TEACHERS' TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

1. Introduction & Role

As a teacher on SmartHouse, you are an independent tutor representing our brand. You agree to uphold professionalism, quality teaching, and integrity at all times.

2. Commitment & Availability

• You must commit to your assigned time slots and be available consistently.
• Minimum commitment is 6 months, early exit without 2 weeks notice will attract penalty.
• You must be online and ready at least 5 minutes before class starts.

3. Punctuality & Attendance

• Lateness of more than 10 minutes without prior notice is considered misconduct.
• No classes should be cancelled within 12 hours of start time.
• If you must miss a class, notify the admin and arrange a makeup class. 2 unnotified absences = automatic termination.

4. Conduct & Professionalism

• Dress decently and professionally with camera ON. No teaching from bed, noisy environments, or while driving.
• No abusive language, discrimination, or personal discussions with students.
• No private solicitation of students/parents to teach them outside the platform. This is grounds for immediate termination.

5. Teaching Quality

• Prepare lesson notes, materials, and homework for every class.
• Submit weekly student progress reports/feedback on time.
• Follow the approved curriculum. Do not teach content outside what is assigned without approval.

6. Communication

• All communication with parents/students must go through the official SmartHouse platform channel.
• You must not share your personal phone number, social media, or bank details directly with parents.
• Respond to admin messages within 12 hours.

7. Technical Requirements

• Stable internet, functioning laptop/phone, good audio, and quiet background.
• If your network fails during class, you must schedule a free makeup class.
• Classes may be recorded for quality assurance.

8. Privacy & Confidentiality

• You must not record, share, or distribute student information, class videos, or platform materials.
• All teaching materials provided by the platform remain the property of the platform.

9. Payment Terms

• Payment is made monthly based on classes completed, not classes assigned.
• Payment only for classes that are marked completed and with proof (attendance + report).
• No payment for classes where you were absent or late without makeup.
• The payment rate is 5000 naira per hour.

10. Non-Compete & Non-Disclosure

• For 6 months after leaving the platform, you agree not to directly contact and privately tutor students you met through the platform.
• You agree not to disclose internal operations, pay structure, or parent data to third parties.

11. Performance Evaluation

Teachers will be evaluated based on punctuality, student improvement, parent feedback, and adherence to rules.

Continuous poor reviews or complaints will lead to retraining or termination.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your engagement if you:

• Breach any of the above terms
• Receive 2 verified complaints from parents
• Solicit students privately
• Display unprofessional behavior

Termination can be with immediate effect and unpaid pending fees may be forfeited if breach is severe.
